Fishers High School
It saddens me to be reporting on the last game of the 2017 season. The ladies traveled to Brebeuf to do battle with the Braves. The weather was hot which snapped some of their energy, but that seemed to change for the better when the game started. Hayley Brown got a start at midfield and was quick to apply defensive pressure. Brianna Cuahuizo started as an outside defender and was successful at containing the winged attack. Sage Heymann started as a forward and had several runs into the Braves red zone. Hayden Stamper worked really hard to keep our attack going and to diffuse the Brave attack. Aleris Crum and Emma Brinson worked in tandem to shutdown the Braves and block open shots. The Lady Tigers held strong until 2 minutes left in half and a slight breakdown allowed a goal. During the half Abby Smith was encouraging to her team to keep their spirits up. With the final 35 minutes in this season under way Laila Sappington was moved back into defense. On this evening she would not allow an attacker to get past her. Marlee Weaver played double duty as outside defender and winger and continued to apply stifling defense in both positions. Emilianna Castillo made penetrating runs deep into Brave territory. Emma Burns worked her magic in the midfield and kept the scoring opportunities going. Mackenzie Boyer got a nod as a forward and broke free several times to get shots on goal. Jocelynn Nakhammouane kept the braves working hard to contain her. Ella Collesano showed her dribbling skill by taking several defenders on at a time and getting through. Vivian Wilson gave 100% effort to help produce scoring opportunities for the Lady Tigers. The ladies battled hard for 34 minutes and unfortunately gave up a second goal with 12 seconds to go. The ladies held their heads high as they congratulated the Braves. I am very proud of the effort tonight and this season. I would drop the ipad(like mic drop), but not a wise choice. I’m out!
