Game Recap

The soccer gods were smiling on the Silver Lady Tigers, as they played host to the Panthers of North Central. Always a good match up, but on this night the heavens parted and the angels were singing the Tiger fight song. The ladies started the game with good energy, even though Emilianna Castillo had an injury and unable to help. Sage Heymann was placed in a new position as forward and quickly made life challenging for the Panthers’ back four. Hayley Brown was inserted into central mid and used her physical play to win balls back. A few times the Panthers were able to get shots off, but the confidence of Abby Smith was able to collect and get her team back on the attack. At the 21 minute mark Jocelyn Nakhammoune was able to feint her way past defenders and put the first goal on the board. The ladies were rejoicing, but quick to refocus. Emma Brinson and Marlee Weaver kept the Panthers attack in check. The 17 minute mark saw Mackenzie Boyer get another ball past the North Central keeper. The half came and ladies needed a reminder that relaxing in the second could result in Panthers coming back. The second started with same intensity. Laila Sappington was placed in several different position throughout the game and was able to shut down threats and produce scoring opportunities. Unfortunately there was a break down in communication and the Panthers were able to get a goal back. Emma Burns and Aleris Crum, who stepped out of the back line were able to control the middle of the field. With clock ticking down to 22 Vivian Wilson broke free from her mark and got a clean shot; GOOAAALLLL!! Brianna Cuahuizo was able to shut down the Panther wing attack. Hayden Stamper did a stellar job of controlling possession and distributing the ball up field. With 6 minutes to go Ella Callesano let one rip from 25 yards out and it sailed right over the goalie. The final whistle blew and the monkey leapt from our backs. Lady Tigers do battle again on Thursday against Carmel at River Road fields.
