Fishers improves to 3-1 in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference with a sweep of Brownsburg: 25-6, 25-19, 25-17. The Tigers hit 0.407, served nine aces, and blocked eight balls in the three sets.
Senior outside Mallory Hernandez led the team with 15 kills on a 0.500 efficiency. Junior outside Audrey Haworth had 11 kills, and junior middle Haley Soper hit 0.875 on the night (seven kills, zero errors).
Hernandez also led the team with four aces, regularly serving the ball faster than 40 miles per hour. Junior setter Rose Duffy served three aces, and senior defensive specialist Julia Drozd had two.
Duffy collected another double-double by leading Fishers in both assists (35) and digs (11).
Tons of Tigers protected the net tonight: senior middle Elizabeth Weeks, freshman Camryn Haworth, and Soper each had 2.0 blocks, while Duffy (1.5) and Hernandez (0.5) aided in the front row defense. Additionally, FHS blocked back 16 other Brownsburg attacks, forcing the Dogs to attack again but with less aggression.
Beginning Monday, Fishers’ Varsity team will start its stretch of 12 matches in 12 days: two conference matches, six non-conference matches, and four matches at the Martinsville Invite. First up is Pendleton Heights at Fishers September 18th.
