Game Recap

Oddly enough when I got home my golden retriever Whitaker greeted me with his tail wagging and this got me reflecting on the evenings competition. The Lady Silver Tigers played host to our cross city rivals the HSE Royals in what is always a game of emotions. The ladies were upbeat but also a bit apprehensive since their friends were the ones across the pitch. Even thought we meet the Royals again on Monday, tonight was a premonition to future results. Right from the start Laila Sappington gave it 120% effort to force royal mistakes. Several times she was able to break through and give us hope. Emma Burns assisted Laila up front with navigating through the HSE defense. Jocelyn Nakhammoune and Hayley Brown worked hard to keep the blue team under pressure. Aleris Crum and Hayden Stamper were the glue in the back four and stuck to the attacking forwards. Abby Smith rallied the Tigers after the Royal got one from 25 yards out and over her head. The girls took the half time break as an opportunity to rally themselves and for the next 35. In the second Emilianna Castillo and Vivian Wilson sparked the team with spirited runs into the attacking third. Hayley Brown worked to be a defensive blockade. Emma Brinson held down the outside of the defensive line and Sage Heymann made life difficult for the attacking Royals. MacKenzie Boyer worked herself to exhaustion on the wing. The Royals found a kink in our armor and we’re able to put another one in. Brianna Cuahuizo provided some relief for tired legs and Marlee Weaver went on a tirade to energize the team. In the end I think Alex Morgan said it best. “Winning and losing isn’t everything, sometimes the journey is just as important as the outcome.” This journey will continue on Monday as we travel to HSE. Peace Out!
