Your Tigers defended home court Tuesday night vs the Raiders. The Varsity match featured two teams ranked in the top 10 by both the coaches’ poll and RPI rankings.
The Varsity Tigers had a slow 0-6 start in the first set, but quickly adjusted to win the match 3-0 with scores of 25-20, 25-13, 25-15.
The team performed the best all around so far this season in the win. The offense was led by Chase Christiansen with 17 total kills, followed by Mario Capo with 9, Revanth Guttikonda with 7 and Parker Beale with 4 kills coming off the bench. All this offensive power was possible with the solid play from setter Kaleb Clark, who recorded a total of 30 assists. Back-up setter Ryan Lock recorded 7 assists coming off the bench in the 3rd set.
In an extremely strong defensive effort, the Tigers recorded a total of 45 serves received and an outstanding 82 total digs. Mario Capo led the defensive effort with 13 serves received and 31 total digs, followed by Lucas Hoffman with 11 & 15, Connor Krehbiel with 8 & 9, Chase with 10 & 4 and Vidal Alvarez with 1 & 6. Even Kaleb Clark had a solid defensive effort with a season/career high of 5 digs in the match.
The JV1 team also found themselves trailing in the first set, but were able to overcome adversity to win the match 2-0 with scores of 25-19 and 25-14.
Both teams are in action again today Thursday April 20th at home vs Covenant Christian, who has a season record of 4-2. JV1 starts at 6:30pm with Varsity to follow around 7:30pm.
Varsity closes out the week hosting a Tri-Match tomorrow Friday, April 21st vs North Central and Columbia City. First match at 6pm vs North Central. Match vs Columbia City around 8:45pm.
The JV2 teams gets back into game action tomorrow Friday at Cathedral playing against Brownsburg and Roncalli in the power league. Their first match is at 6pm.
