The boys volleyball varsity team had their home season opener last night hosting first-year program Herron High School. They won the game 3-0 (25-9, 25-13, 25-12). The offense was led by senior Matt Conaway with 5 kills and a .444 hitting efficiency, followed by Connor Krehbiel (4, .800) and Chase Christiansen (4/.286). Senior Ryan Lock recorded his 2nd kill of the season while getting playing time in the front row. Ryan and Mario Capo both recorded 8 assists each.
The team finished with an astonishing 22 total aces, let by Mario with 4, followed by Ryan, Matt and Revanth Guttikonda with 3 aces each. The defense was extremely balanced with all players on the roster finishing with 2 digs each, except for the leading players Lucas Hoffman, Chase and Revanth who had 3 digs each.
For the season, Chase and Revanth lead all players in the state of Indiana in blocks with 17 and 12 respectively. In hitting efficiency, Fishers has two players top 5 in the state with Mario at .392 and Chase at .373. Chase and Parker Beale are second in the state for total aces with 8 each, followed by Kaleb Clark, Connor and Matt with 7 each.
The JV2 team hosts Cathedral’s freshman and Carmel’s JV2 teams in the main gym starting at 6pm tonight.
JV1 plays at Fishers this Saturday March 18th, starting at 1pm vs JV teams from Carmel, St. Xavier (KY) and Trinity (KY). Varsity also plays this Saturday at 1pm, but is traveling to Carmel High School. They will play varsity teams from St. Xavier and Trinity.
