The Fishers High School Swimming and Diving Team kicked off the championship season in impressive fashion with it’s 2nd place finish at the Hoosier Crossroad Conference Reserve Championships held at Hamilton Southeastern HS. The unique team scoring system involves the number of swimmers entered in the 50 determining the scoring, and then dividing the total team score by the number of athletes. Fast swims were not effected, though, as these athletes were at the top of their game. Peyton Dewaelsche started the individual swimming off by setting the meet record in the 200 Free, winning in 1:48.28. Aaron Frollo finished third, Gavin Rue 5th and Walker Sprague-Rowe 6th. Jonah Sanchez touched 8th in the 50 Free; Pedro Yam-Quinones placed 3rd in the 100 Fly, Jared Hyatt 7th; Aaron Frollo won the 500 in meet record time (4:49.94) while teammates Dewaelsche and Sprague-Rowe followed in 2nd and 4th; In the 100 Back, Gavin Rue was second and Yam-Quinones was 5th. The Medley Relays were 2nd (Rue, Frollo, Yam-Quinones, Dewaelsche) and 6th (Sprague-Rowe,Jacob Santin, Hyatt, Sanchez); 200 Free Relay (Bruno Kitazuka, Sanchez, Eric Mokube, Sheldon Brady) was 8th; and the 400 Free Relays finished 2nd (Yam-Quinones, Rue, Frollo, Dewaelsche) and 6th (Hyatt, Santin, Kitazuka, Sprague-Rowe). Next up for the Tigers are the Sectional Championships, again at Hamilton Southeastern on February 16 & 18.
