The Tigers finished 3rd in the IHSAA Regional Cross Country Meet this past Saturday held at White River Elementary School in Noblesville. The meet was a battle of the top teams in the state and the Tigers narrowly missed out on 2nd place by 8 points.
As he has done all season, Josh Roth led the Tigers off the starting line as the entire field quickly began chasing Gabe Fendel (Hamilton Southeastern) who opened up a 10 second lead by the 1k mark. At the mile mark, Fendel was still all alone in 1st with Roth, Sam Kuhn, and Ethan Meyer, attempting to close the gap in the chase pack.
As the runners came past the halfway point in the race, Roth was in 4th followed by Kuhn in 14th, and E. Meyer in 16th. A secondary pack developed, contained Alex Meyer, Andrew Runion, and Brandon Reyes. Roth dropped to 7th just after the 2 mile mark as Kuhn moved into 13th and E. Meyer 15th.
At the finish, it was Fendel winning in a time of 15:22.4. Kuhn gained 3 spots the last mile to finish in 10th with a time of 15:51.0. Roth finished in 13th, crossing the line in 15:53.1. Ethan Meyer finished 16th with a PR of 15:55.2, breaking the 16:00 mark for the first time in his high school career. Alex Meyer finished 24th with a time of 16:09.6, a PR. Runion and Reyes ran together the entire race, finishing in 28th and 29th, respectively. Runionâs time of 16:14.1 and Reyes time of 16:14.4 were both PRs.
