This evening the Tigers kicked off their 2016 outdoor track & field season with a hard fought victory against HCC foe the Noblesville Millers, 68 – 64, at Hare Chevrolet Field in Noblesville.
The Tigers had 6 individual event winners: Jontel Hackett (100 meter dash, 11.74); Peter Werling (1600 meter run, 4:31.97); Trevor Thompson (800 meter run, 2:03.89); Alex Meyer (3200 meter run, 10:12.94); and Noah Rogers (long jump, 21’6.5″, and high jump, 5’10”).
In addition the Tigers won two of the three contested relays: the 4 x 100 meter relay of Jontel Hackett, HL Lewis, Keyshawn Burrell, and Mitch Lorkowski won in a time of 44.09 and the 4 x 400 meter relay of Peter Werling, DiSean Graham, Jalen Moss, and Keyshawn Burrell sealed the 4 point team victory with a winning time of 3:30.71.

Up next for the Tigers is the HSR State Indoor Finals this Saturday afternoon at Lambert Fieldhouse (Purdue University) for those who qualified (Noah Rogers in the long jump & high jump, Cameron Kosegi in the discus, the 4 x 400 meter relay, the 4 x 800 meter relay, and the Distance Medley Relay). The next outdoor/full team meet will be next Wednesday, March 30th when the Tigers travel east to take on the Mt. Vernon Marauders.
