The Fishers Tigers Varsity Baseball team (11-13/3-9) connected on 7 doubles and received 5 scoreless innings of relief pitching in 6-4 victory of New Pal. The Tigers had 9 total hits on the evening.
Leading the way for the Tigers was senior Jacob Totman who delivered a 3-4 night with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Andy Bennett also had 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Brendan Toungate contributed a double and a single in his multi-hit performance. Alex Wright and Taylor Soper each added a double and scored a run.
On the mound, the Tigers received great relief pitching from Soper, Bennett, and Elliott Gilmore. After the Dragons hit a grand slam in the 3rd off of starter Nathan Carroll, Soper entered with a runner on first and no outs. A fielder’s choice and line drive double play ended the inning. Soper also pitched the 4th inning. Bennett (1-0) picked up his first win of the season after pitching the 5th and 6th innings and striking out 2. Gilmore pitched the 7th for his 3rd save of the season. The game ended on a 4-6-3 double play.
The Tigers begin a series on Thursday with HCC leading Westfield. The Tigers will host the Shamrocks on Thursday and Saturday with Friday’s game at Westfield.
