Fishers went on the road and swept 4A No. 37 Mount Vernon (Fortville). The Marauders are a defensive challenge, but the Tigers fought well and increased their defensive intensity each and every moment.
Four different FHS players had blocks, led by junior middle Haley Soper’s 1.5 blocks. Soper also had four kills on 0.364 hitting.
Sophomore libero Bryn Roberts led the defense with 11 digs, and junior setter Rose Duffy was close behind with 10.
Duffy was a distribution machine, collecting 42 assists to average an impressive 14 per set.
Senior outside Mallory Hernandez led the hit parade with 19 kills on 0.529 hitting, while junior outside Audrey Haworth was second with 11 kills. Freshman Camryn Haworth had eight kills and was a huge part of the dominance in the second and third sets. Senior middle Elizabeth Weeks hit five kills on her way to a 0.556 evening.
The Tigers go for the season’s 20th win Thursday night at Hamilton Heights.
