Game Recap

On May 19th, the Fishers Tigers look to make history and leave a legacy with a win over Hamilton Southeastern High School. Something about this being the Tigers last game and it being the Mudsock Game put a fire in their belly. The Tigers came out strong.

After losing the opening faceoff, the Tigers quickly get the ball back and go on the attack. The Tigers are first to score as Jonah Dunnuck, who was recently a starting defender now moved to first line midfielder scored. He has excelled in his new position and has made a difference for the Tigers in the past games. This is his first goal of the game and won’t be his last. After dodging and beating his man up top, Jonah runs down the middle of the Royals defense and rifles one past his goaltender. Another goal is scored by the Tigers. A game hasn’t gone by without Andrew Borkowski scoring a goal, so it doesn’t come as a surprise when he scores the next goal. Andrew Borkowski brings the Tigers lead to 2-0. The midfielders are not the only ones to contribute to the Tigers scoring. Noah Ayala, a starting attackmen, makes a timely cut to receive a pass and shoots one past the goaltender. The tigers end the first quarter up 3-1.

The Royals and the Tigers both score a single goal in the second quarter. Collin Worley scores for the Tigers on his first shot. Collin pinged it too fast past the goaltender. He brings the lead of the Tigers to 4-1. The Royals scored in the second quarter to bring the score to 4-2. After the first half the Tigers lead the game, but the Royals come out strong in the second half.

Two goals are scored in the second half by the Tigers, however, the Royals score 4 goals. Andrew Borkowski scores for the Tigers in the third quarter and Jonah Dunnuck scores his second goal in the fourth quarter. The Royals score 3 goals in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 6-6. The Royals score the final goal to win the game in overtime 7-6. The win was within the Tiger’s grasp but slipped away. While the result of the game wasn’t what the Tigers had hoped for they certainly gave great effort and can build off of this learning experience.
